
The actor is in a quiet north London pub, contemplating why he is often cast
in parts requiring him to be violent.
But
Daniel simply laughs at the idea he has anything in common with the
menacing characters he plays, which have included a murderer, a wife-beater,
the Devil and now his biggest role to date — Great Train robber
Ronnie Biggs.
In between sips of Guinness, he says: “You’re not the first person to worry
that I’m about to smash my pint glass against the wall.
“It’s true that you get pigeon-holed when you leave drama school and I have
played some violent parts. I don’t know what it is but I’ve always played
wounded characters. I am drawn to it. Ordinary people in extraordinary
circumstances.
