The Famous Grouse is to celebrate its 107th birthday by filling the world’s largest bottle of whisky, company bosses said.
The 200-litre bottle – which will hold the equivalent of 8,000 drams – is expected to set a new Guinness World Record when it is filled over the weekend. 
Created by Czech glass company Bomma, the bottle arrived at the Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret distillery, Perthshire, yesterday from Svetla, near Prague.

Mother charged following death of child

A MOTHER has been charged following the death of two-year-old Rio Smedley in Bolton.
Kirsty Smedley, 23, from Bolton, has been charged with allowing or causing the death of a child.
She appeared before Bolton Magistrates' Court today and is due to appear at Manchester Crown Court, Crown Square tomorrow.
At about 5.45pm on April 22, police went to a house on Cheriton Drive, Breightmet, following reports that Rio had gone into cardiac arrest.

Merritt Wins 110m Hurdles Gold

United States' Aries Merritt has won the gold medal in the men's 110m hurdles.
Merritt stormed to victory in 12.92s, the fastest time in the world this year and just 0.01s off the Olympic record set by Liu Xiang in Athens in 2004.
